Who we are

Design Planet is an independent creative studio based in Eastbourne and ran by Creative Direcor & Founder Alex Melville.

Founded as a business back in 2016, Design Planet originally served as a platform for Alex to work as a freelance service provider. After eight years delivering sucessfull projects for clients such as; Bose, John Lewis, Ocado, Squarespace, and Vodafone, Alex decided launch Design Planet as an independent creative studio, with a focus on purpose driven design for brands and businesses with similar values.

Our name Design Planet, derives from our belief that everything we do as designers should be to the benefit of all, people and planet.

We are purpose driven, human centred, sustainability focused, fiercely creative, and collaborative.

Who we work with

Passionate about both design and sustainability, we partner with clients whose values reflect our own and extend beyond profit. This includes charities, social enterprises, public entities, and purpose-led businesses.

Our studio strength lies in our considered aesthetic approach to typography, colour, and composition, which we bring to life across, brand identities, marketing materials, events, website design, social media, and more.

How we do it

We listen

Kicking things off we dive deep into the heart of your business and brand. We’ll chat about your goals, your audience, and what makes your business unique. Think of this as a collaborative brainstorming session, where we explore ideas and possibilities together to work out what it really is that your business needs to deliver.

We define

Once we have a clear understanding, we’ll create a roadmap for your project, discuss timelines and budgets to ensure we’re aligned on your project goals.

We concept

This is where I guess the magic happens! We’ll start building out our conceptual thoughts, sketching rough ideas, we may start playing with colours, fonts, and composition. Collaborating closely we will share conceptual work with you and refine them based on your feedback.

We craft

With conceptual work now approved, we’ll be bringing concepts to life. Whether it’s a refreshed logo, a bespoke website, or a captivating new brand identity, we’ll make sure every detail is crafted to perfection.

We launch

Your project will be launched with a bang! Whether it’s a new product, a marketing campaign, or a brand refresh, we’ll make sure it’s ready to shine. We will help you with any questions or queries you may have, such as how to launch a brand refresh, or how to get materials printed and out into the wild, we also offer ongoing support to all partners to ensure your work continues to thrive post delivery.
